Yamaha launches Fazer 25 at Rs 1.28 lakh, to take on KTM Duke 250

India Yamaha Motor, the second biggest Japanese brand in the country, today launched the Fazer 25 at Rs 1.28 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).

The bike is powered by a 249cc, 4-stroke, fuel-injected engine and follows the FZ25 which was launched a few months ago. The Fazer 25 will be competing against the KTM Duke 250, Pulsar 200 NS, Hero Karizma, Honda CBR 250 to name a few.

This is a first major overhaul of the Fazer brand which Yamaha had launched nearly a decade ago. When launched in 2008-09 the Fazer debuted with 150cc engine thereafter going through several minor improvements.

The Fazer plays in the touring segment which is a segment other than the cruiser segment where Royal Enfield is the market leader.

The new bike which will be available in Soulful Cyan and Rhythmic Red will be on the roads by September. With maximum power output of 20.9 PS at 8,000 rpm and maximum torque of 20 Nm at 6,000 rpm, the Fazer 25 features LED headlight and an LCD instrument cluster.

Masaki Asano, Managing Director, Yamaha Motor India Sales, said, “Yamaha is known as the manufacturer of some of the versatile sport tourers that has created excitement in the motorcycling culture of the world. Since 2008, Yamaha has seen similar excitement in customers with the introduction of performance motorcycles in India.”

“Now, it’s time Yamaha takes it to an all new high with the next line of the FZ generation bikes. With its improved looks and other suitable changes, the new Fazer 25 will keep up with the expectations of the FZ breed of riders,” he added.
