A war is currently raging in the two-wheeler market over the top 10 slots on a MoM basis. The key contenders in the fray vying for space are primarily the 100-110cc mass market motorcycles and automatic scooters with similar displacements.
Interestingly, scooters have performed far better than their motorcycle counterparts during May 2017 according to the latest statistics provided by industry body SIAM.
While scooters grew 24.67 percent, motorcycles had a wafer thin growth of 4.04 percent a positive seen against the pick-up in the rural markets and forecast of good monsoons.
The result was reflected in the list of top ten two-wheeler contenders for the month. For a start, TVS Jupiter a scooter from the stable of south-based TVS Motor has climbed up the ladder from tenth ranking in May 2016 to eighth slot in May 2017 replacing Bajaj 100cc CT motorcycle in that position and pushing CT out of the top 10 reckoning list.
