Mercedes-Benz India is planning to invest €22 million in India in 2024 to launch over a dozen new cars, including electric vehicles (EVs). The company plans to focus on premium models with over 50% of the new launches being higher-end variants. Mercedes-Benz is also planning to open its EV charging network to electric vehicles from other brands.
New Mercedes-Benz E-Class
The upcoming sixth-generation Mercedes-Benz E-Class is anticipated to make its debut in the Indian market by late 2024, featuring an exclusive long-wheelbase configuration, consistent with its predecessors. The redesigned luxury sedan boasts larger dimensions compared to the previous model and incorporates various design elements inspired by the flagship S-Class. The availability of the innovative ‘Superscreen,’ comprising a 12.3-inch instrument cluster, a 14.4-inch touchscreen infotainment display, and a 12.3-inch passenger touchscreen, in the India-specific E-Class variant remains uncertain.

Mercedes-Maybach EQS SUV
Maybach, the luxury sub-brand under Mercedes, is poised to launch the all-electric EQS SUV in India in the latter part of the upcoming year. The exterior design will showcase an abundance of chrome, featuring distinctive Maybach wheels, dual-tone paint, and Maybach logos, serving to clearly differentiate it from the standard EQS SUV. Inside the cabin, the Maybach EQS SUV is expected to offer a luxurious ambiance with high-end materials and superior craftsmanship.
This electric SUV will be available in the ‘680’ variant, equipped with a robust 108.4kWh battery that claims an impressive 600km of range on a single charge. Propelled by two electric motors on each axle, the Maybach EQS SUV delivers a substantial total output of 658hp and 950Nm of torque. This potent powertrain enables the sizable SUV to accelerate from 0 to 100kph in just 4.4 seconds, achieving a commendable top speed of 210kph.
Mercedes-Benz EQG SUV
The electric counterpart to the rugged G-Class SUV, the EQG, showcases a similar boxy design. However, Mercedes-Benz has implemented several modifications to the bodywork, prioritizing aerodynamics and efficiency. Built on a ladder-frame chassis, the Mercedes-Benz EQG is expected to match the off-road capabilities of the conventional ICE G-Class, emphasizing durability and toughness. Transmission duties are performed by a 9-speed AMG Speedshift automatic that powers all four wheels.
Mercedes-Benz CLE
Mercedes-Benz took the wraps off the GLA facelift this May, showcasing that most of the design changes will be seen at the nose. LED lighting all around is now standard, and the wheel arches are now painted the same colour as the car’s exterior, replacing the black plastic on the outgoing car. Changes to the cabin are minimal, though the GLA facelift does get an updated MBUX infotainment system, with interior ambient lighting and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The current turbo-petrol and diesel engines are expected to continue.
Mercedes-Benz GLB facelift
Like the GLA facelift, the refreshed GLB seven-seat SUV will get similar cosmetic enhancements on the inside and outside, as well as updates to the infotainment system. The petrol and diesel engines paired to dual-clutch auto gearboxes and the 4Matic all-wheel drive system, are expected to continue unchanged.
